How we check and rank listings
Why a business is near the top of a page, what we looked at before listing it, and what we did not look at.
What we check
- The business's own website shows that it serves clients in English.
- Listings sent in by owners are reviewed by a person.
- When an owner claims a listing, they confirm a code sent to their email and we approve the claim before the listing shows as claimed.
- On a listing's own page, the Google rating and review count come from Google and are shown with the month we read them.
What we do not check
- Qualifications.
- Professional registrations.
- Prices.
- The quality of the work.
Confirm those directly with the professional before you book.
How the order works
On a city or category page, listings come in this order:
- Professional members first. This is a paid plan, and the card is marked "Professional member".
- Then listings with the Verified mark.
- Then the newest listings.
See what the Professional plan includes
On the home page, the Featured row shows Professional members, plus listings rated at least 4.5 on Google with at least 20 reviews. A listing that gets there on its Google rating has not paid for it.
What paying does not buy
- The Verified mark. No plan includes it.
- Reviews or ratings. Google ratings come from Google, not from us.
- A different description of what we checked. The checks on this page are the same for every listing.

If a listing is wrong, or the order on a page looks unfair, tell us.
