File your nationality application online
Pay the fee, gather the documents and complete the online application for Spanish nationality by residence on the Ministry of Justice electronic office.
For: Adults with the required years of residence who have passed (or are exempt from) the DELE and CCSE and now file the application themselves.

Steps
Pay the fee first. Pay online through the Tax Agency payment gateway inside the application, or pay at a bank with modelo 790 código 026.
For the bank route, download the form from the Ministry of Justice electronic office. Do not photocopy it: each form has a unique number.
If you paid at a bank, keep the copy stamped or validated by the bank, showing the fee number. You attach it to the application.
Open the electronic office page for nationality by residence and click "Tramitación On-line con Certificado Digital".
Choose Cl@ve as your identification method, then click "Nueva solicitud".
Pick who files: "Realizada por el interesado" if you file for yourself.
The other options are for a legal representative or for someone with a mandate or power of attorney.
Fill in your NIE, support number and name exactly as on your identity document, then your birth, civil status and address details. Click "Crear Solicitud".
Scan and attach your documents, then sign and submit the application before the two months run out.
You can add more documents later to an application already started in the electronic office.
Allow the Ministry to check your Instituto Cervantes results, your padron data and your Spanish criminal record in the application, or attach the certificates yourself.
Without your signed consent for a check, you must attach the matching certificate.
Done when: You have signed and submitted the application in the electronic office, inside the two-month window.
Common mistakes
- An unpaid application is not processed. The fee is required to file. Orden JUS/1625/2016 (BOE)
